Holiday Season Sizzix Surfacez!
With the Holiday Season soon upon us, there is no better time for the expansion of our color story - introducing Sizzix Surfacez Texture Rolls and Cards & Envelopes! Whether you are searching for a traditional color scheme of greens & reds or you wish to brighten up the season with pinks & teals - we have got you covered!
I had so much fun playing around with all of the newest releases to our Sizzix Surfacez line and wanted to share a few ways you can use these newest essentials in your upcoming Holiday Season makes.
Last year's release of our Festive Color Story range was the perfect introduction of bright and classic tones for Holiday Season crafting. Alongside the existing Festive Cardstock, Sequins & Beads, Sculpting Foam and felt, this year we have expanded the range to include Card & Envelope packs that work in unison with the existing Festive color scheme.
Bold colors such as Pink Fizz, Mistletoe Green and Peppermint are sure to brighten anyone's day, while Holly Berry and Fir Tree are an ode to more traditional holiday tones. The Cards & Envelopes each come in 10 packs, which are perfect for sending those holiday cards en-masse out to family and friends.
Why not try your hand at stencilling on the card fronts? I used the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Cut-Out Snowflakes from Chapter 3 to create a stencil with Sizzix Expand Paste on not one but two different cards. On the Pink Fizz card I cut an aperture directly into the card front with a large circle die and then stenciled a snowflake to fit inside of the window. On the Holly Berry card I stenciled a variety of the snowflake designs in a diagonal direction to create the appearance of falling snow.
And what would card making be without some 3-D Embossing? On the Mistletoe Green card, I embossed the Christmas Tree Pattern on a panel of cardstock and then painted over the design with some Agave Creamy Matte Acrylic Paint. After it dried I brought the design out further using some Sizzix Surfacez Gold Luster Wax to really make those trees pop off the card front. Add in a few trees from the Groovy Christmas Die Set and you've got the perfect card to send to loved ones this year.
But what about show stopper cards? Why not create the perfect Christmas scene with the Layered Christmas Tree Die Set front and center on a Fir Tree-colored card? I used a variety of Gold Opulent cardstock to create a Layered Christmas Tree you can't miss, but this tree would look equally beautiful using the Festive cardstock pack! And it would appear I couldn't get enough of the Christmas Tree Pattern 3-D Embossing folder. This time I embossed a black panel of Festive cardstock and dry brushed both the Agave and Green Tea Creamy Matte Acrylic Paints across the emboss design. I finished it up with adding a bit of Silver Luster Wax on top of the trees and adding a holiday sentiment from the Festive Elements Die Set. The Agave and Green Tea colors worked beautifully with the Peppermint card base.
In addition to the expansion of the Cards & Envelopes, we also added to our traditional Color Story range with new 6 inch Texture Rolls in the Ballet Slipper, Primrose, Arctic Sky, Mint Julep, Lavender Dust and Limoncello colors. These six colors align with existing matching products such as our Assorted cardstock pack, Biodegradable Fine Glitters, Felt, Embossing Powders and much more. The six inch sizing works perfectly to fit into 3-D embossing folders and holds the embossed designs beautifully. This durable Surfacez can be distressed to appear like leather, sewn, washed and used in unison with our Sizzix Effectz range. But one of my favorite ways to utilize this substrate is for journal covers.
Because the newest Texture Rolls are sized to six inches, they work in unison with quite a few of Eileen Hull's Scoreboard XL dies. I used the Folio Journal from Chapter 1 to create a December mini book using the Mint Julep Texture Roll to cover the outside of my entire album. Because of the sturdy nature of Texture Rolls they are the best solution for journal covers that can handle wear and tear. And while many would not imagine using spring colors for the holidays, one of my favorite things to do is mix everyday essentials with festive project makes. These Texture Rolls are the perfect extension from year-round making. I finished off the cover for my Christmas Wishes mini album with the Floral Abundance and Christmas Decorations die sets from Chapter 3 and a mix of the Assorted and Festive cardstock packs.
No matter what your preferred color scheme might be for the holidays, these new releases are sure to make the perfect base for any upcoming projects ideas. Whether you tap into mixed media techniques or go down a more classic route with scrapbooking, spring and Festive colors can compliment anything you choose to design.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the possibilities with our newest Surfacez! I can't wait to see what you make with them in the coming months. Be sure to tag us if you share anything to social media platforms with the hashtag #mymaking story.
Until next time, happy crafting!
